Hepatic Ducts

The hepatic ducts (there are two: one on the right and left) drain bile away from the right and left lobes of the liver, respectively. These two ducts come together just under the liver into the common hepatic duct, which joins up with the cystic duct (which comes from the gallbladder); at this point, the two ducts become the common bile duct. These ducts are a large part of the biliary tract, or biliary tree. The biliary tract is a series of vessels that transport bile and other secretions out of the liver and into the intestines.
